Hi everyone! Thanks for visiting my website. Here is the scoop on me.
I live near Portland, Oregon, and have been in business since 2002 providing horse massage to my clients. I am certified as an Equine Body Worker by Equinology (R). They have courses in canine massage as well. Click here to go to their website – I highly recommend their education courses. You will work hard, and learn a great deal about anatomy and body work.
Over the years, I have had trouble convincing owners that their horses had pain, and many sessions ended with frustration about not being able to identify the pain in the animal. I researched infrared technology, and found training through the University of Florida, Vet School. After attending the Thermal Imaging course in 2010, I purchased a FLIR infrared camera. I am very grateful to the veterinarians teaching this science and technology, and I am currently working toward Board Certification as a Veterinary Thermal Technologist.
It is truly an answer to my needs. The infrared camera shows WHERE the horse or dog has pain. We can see it in the thermal image. Absolutely, without question, clear as a picture. I can then send the digital report to the veterinarian, so that they can continue with other imaging to get to their diagnosis. This camera is a miracle in my mind.
It is non-invasive, instant, portable, and combined with my training, it is helping every horse and dog that I image. Owners can reduce the work and exercise, use cold water to reduce an inflammation, or head straight to the vet, if that is what’s called for.
We also discuss the level of exercise, because rest may be in order. If we continue an exercise program that isn’t sustainable for the animal, we have vet bills for lameness. That could be eliminated by finding the level of work for each dog. Wouldn’t that be great?
